Ideas For My Assignment

My chosen subject is Close Up, and I have chosen to photograph Flowers & Plants.
Being a freelance florist, I love the way that professional photographers really get in on the flower and emphasize the veins on the petals, the middle of the flower and capture all of the natural beauty of it.  Whereas I will put a bouquet together and try to photograph it for my portfolio and as hard as I try, I can never capture the full beauty of these beautiful expensive flowers.  The same also applies to plants.  I would love to go out and capture raindrops or dew on plants and also insects.

So, where am I going to get these pictures from?

Flowers

I could photograph the flowers that I use but I've not got any weddings booked now until next year, so I would have to buy some.  The choice of flowers wouldn't be a problem at this time of year as most flowers are imported and my wholesaler has a vast range for me to choose from.

Also, even though it is now Autumn, approaching Winter, we can still find flowers in our gardens.  It's just a matter of searching.

Plants

You can start by looking in the garden for plants but at this time of year a lot of plants shed their leaves, unless you're in my garden whereas I grow my plants for their all year round foliage.  Other places that are really good for photographing plants are woods, fields and nature reserves.

  1. Hey Mel, It's great to see your blogging your ideas but I'd really like to see some images!

Did you write up an action plan?? I Know everyones very busy but if you could get an action plan done by wednesday that would be great (you've probably already done one, in which case ignore this). It will give you an idea of what needs to be done by when etc. I will do a checklist for wednesday so everyone knows where they need to be at this point :)

Also, when your blogging have your unit criteria to hand and label accordingly, any probs just e mail or we can have a chat on wednesday, take care :)
