Andy Goldsworthy OBE, Photographer, Sculpture and environmentalist was born in Cheshire on 26th July 1956. He grew up in Leeds, and after leaving school, he studied fine art at Bradford College and Preston Polytechnic where upon he gained his B>A> degree. He was granted an honorary degree in 1993 by the University of Bradford, and is currently an A D White Profressor At Large at Cornell University. Andy now lives in Scotland.
Andy's art often cosists of brightly coloured flowers, mud, leaves, pine cones, icicles, snow, stones, twigs and thorns. He loves to work with nature as a whole.
As well as working in England and Scotland, Andys work has been created at the North Pole, Japan, the Australian Outback and America.
Andy quotes that he enjoys the freedom of using his hands and found tools (a sharp stone, a quill of a feather or thorns). He also likes to take each day as it comes. If it's Autumn, he works with leaves, if it's Winter and it's snowing, he will work with the snow.

I like how Andy uses nature for his work. The fact that if the picture that he wants isn't there, then he creates it with whatever is around him, like the icicles and the iris leaves. Looking at his work gives you something to think about for your own photographs.
